Our customers know best what it takes for them to succeed on job sites and the next generation of Cat Mini Excavators has been built with their needs top-of-mind. The new lineup includes four models in the 1- to 2-ton category and six new models in the 7- to 10-ton category. These excavators were inspired and designed based on customer and operator feedback, emphasizing operator experience, low cost of ownership, performance, convenience and safety. Each new model features heavy-duty main structures, fuel-efficient engines, load sensing hydraulics, spacious cabs and a joystick steering system known as Cat Stick-Steer.
This generation of mini excavators includes multiple outstanding features, including cruise control, optional air conditioning in the 1- to 2-ton models and a tilt-up cab that makes the excavator’s engine easily accessible for service. Perhaps the most noteworthy feature is the stick steer function that allows the excavator to travel like a skid steer loader, using only the left-handed joystick. New models also include a standard full-color LCD monitor with optional Bluetooth connectivity to help customers stay connected.
In the first of numerous global launch events, the new models debuted at the 2018 Green Industry & Equipment Expo, where customers got to test and learn about the excavators before they became available to the public. Early customer feedback suggests that good things do come in small packages. Mike Giddens, fleet manager of F&H Contractors says, “You can’t ask for anything better than what I experienced in that machine.”
