The Caterpillar Foundation
Takes a Bite Out of Hunger

Caterpillar’s vision is a world in which all people’s basic needs – such as shelter, clean water, sanitation, food and reliable power – are fulfilled in a sustainable way and a company that improves the quality of the environment and the communities where we live and work. So, it’s fitting that the Caterpillar Foundation’s mission is to alleviate extreme poverty. Through the work of its nonprofit partners, the Foundation is addressing food security, a critical basic need. Through strategic partnerships with hunger relief organizations in multiple countries, the Caterpillar Foundation is helping feed the world, one meal at a time.

“We are proud to support our neighbors who may not know where their next meal will come from. When people’s basic human needs are met, they are able to more effectively pursue economic and educational opportunities. And when they can do so, an entire community can benefit.”

CHINA FOUNDATION FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION
China
Due to poverty, many rural children in China aren’t able to eat breakfast at home in the morning and must wait to eat lunch at school. In addition, many of those schools lack the appropriate cooking tools and can only prepare potatoes in coal ovens, which has been shown to have a negative impact on children’s growth and health. Through the Caterpillar Foundation’s support, the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation has helped schools switch from coal to electricity, helping to address hunger and health related issues in children.
