Seeing Technologies in Action

The world in which our customers operate is changing at a breakneck pace. Machines are infused with technologies that improve the way they perform. Some can be operated remotely, while others run completely on their own through autonomous systems. Predictive analytics allows us to take the mountains of data our customers receive from their machines and turn it into information they can use to improve operations and maintenance activities.

Wherever our customers are on their technology journeys, providing them the ability to see these technologies in action and interact with the experts who are helping to develop and implement them is key to positioning Caterpillar as a leader and trusted advisor in this technology-driven future.

On 6,500 acres in the Sonoran Desert near Green Valley, Arizona, USA, we’re able to do exactly that. The Caterpillar Tinaja Hills Demonstration Learning Center is dedicated to the training needs of Caterpillar customers and Cat® dealers serving every industry. In addition to classroom facilities and a comprehensive training shop, Tinaja Hills is the ideal location to see and interact with Cat equipment and technologies. The complex has several demonstration areas that feature a variety of material types and terrains, which allows Caterpillar to accurately duplicate sites in realistic applications.

During a recent two-day mining technology demonstration, for example, nearly 75 miners saw a customized demonstration that featured Cat autonomous trucks and dozers working alongside manned vehicles. The program also provided in-the-iron time as well as presentations on the complete Cat MineStar™ suite of technology offerings for mining, delivered by technology leaders and subject matter experts. Providing opportunities like these is just one of the ways we go beyond the iron to support our customers.
